We're a registered charity providing visual arts facilities in Darlington
The Bridge Centre for Visual Arts was officially registered as a charity in 2016 to provide an outlet for local residents, tutors and groups to enjoy and experience visual arts following the closure of the Darlington Arts Centre.
We're based closed to the Darlingon town centre, on Yarm Road. By providing the spaces, storage, equipment and facilities to experience and enjoy visual art, we enable community groups, tutors, the local council and others to offer a range of courses and activities to all in Darlington and the surrounding area.
Our courses and activities cover a wide range of abilities, from beginners to the very accomplished for a diverse community, including specific projects designed for vulnerable adults and young people with challenging abilities.
The Bridge Centre is open to everyone to enjoy visual arts, through courses, group sessions, exhibitions and events.
As a charitable organisation, we primarily provide education, training, improvement of health through social inclusion and art based activity, as well as community development through arts.
We provide this to children, older people, people with disabilities and the general public. To do this, we provide open spaces for arts based activities including painting, drawing, digital art, ceramics, textiles and more.
We offer hire space for tutors and private bookings, courses offered by private tutors, and events which are open to all to enjoy visual arts.
The Bridge provides a vibrant community led venue to support artists and encourage visual arts involvement for Darlington. Many artists who had a presence at the Darlington Arts Centre can now be found at The Bridge Centre. It is also the home of other arts-based organisations.
