Exploring the principals of pure watercolour, and the properties of watercolour paint. For beginners or those who have some experience but do not truly understand the qualities of all pigments.

Beginners Watercolour

A course exploring the principals of pure watercolour, and the properties of watercolour paint.

This course will suit beginners or those who have some experience but do not truly understand the qualities of each and every pigment.

We will look at some watercolours done by other artists, not necessarily to emulate but to better understand the possibilities.

You will learn how to stretch paper, the qualities of the paper, the difference in quality of paint.

Washes, tonal painting, wet in wet, dry brush, sponge techniques, the use of wax resist.

How to get texture and use colour sympathetically.

Above all this will be fun, and your own expressive development will be encouraged.

You can bring your own equipment, if you have any, but don’t rush out and buy as all you need for the first session will be provided.

About the Tutor

I am a tutor of many years standing, having taught Adults for the County, an Artist in Printmaking and Painting, with a teaching qualification and a Degree in Fine Arts. I have exhibited locally and nationally.

My inspiration is the landscapes of Yorkshire, The Lake District, Scotland, wildlife, and my Dog, I spent time outdoors painting and sketching some times in remote landscapes.
