Following the popularity of Openart Studio, you'll enjoy a a host of visual art forms with our accessible sessions


About the course

Following the huge popularity of Openart Studio, Rosi will be offering advice on a host of visual art forms, from printing to textiles, felt making to mosaics.

Skills & techniques on offer this term include:

  • Painted papers and printing
  • Drawing and sketching with pastels, charcoal and pencils
  • Painting with watercolours, acrylics and gouache
  • Bookmaking, including stitched, zines and accordion folds
  • Printmaking with lino, wood blocks, stamps and screens
  • Feltmaking and needle-felted pictures
  • Hand stitching using embroidery, sashiko mending and tapestry
  • Machine sewing skills for clothes, quilts and crafts
  • Mosaics
  • Seasonal decorations

Open Art runs in 10-week blocks during term times, and the Autumn term begins on Friday 23rd September.

Students are able to pay per session at a cost of £6.00, or can book and pay for the whole 10 week term in advance for £50.

Safety notes:

The studio can accommodate a maximum of 15 people in each session. Face masks can be worn, and seating will be arranged to ensure safe social distancing.

Parking
The Bridge is a short drive from Darlington Town Centre, with free parking available on-site and in the surrounding area.

There is also a covered space to store bicycles.

Getting here by Bus

A number of Arriva buses stop outside The Bridge, including numbers: 2, 3B and 12

Getting here by Train

We're a ten minute walk from Darlington Train Station. From the Yarm Road entrance to the station, turn right onto Yarm Road (walking away from the town centre), and follow the road towards the corner of Hundens Lane.

Accessible Facilities

Our building is fully accessible including disabled facilities.
Dropped curbs are in use in the surrounding area for wheelchair access to the building.
